Attend a Papal Audience with the Pope at the Vatican! Tickets are free but they are extremely hard to find, so booking in advance is essential. It is advisable to book ahead, therefore ensuring you won’t waste any time trying to obtain tickets while you’re on vacation in the Eternal City. We’ll reserve and pick up your free tickets, then make your way through the crowd to secure the best available seats. Depending on the season, the weather conditions and the number of devotees visiting that day, the audience can take place in the Audience Hall or St. Peter’s Square. The Vatican, is a must-see on any visit to Rome, but now we’re providing the opportunity to see the Pope in person. On this tour, you’ll have an expert, English-speaking tour escort on hand to lead you through the huge crowd directly to St. Peter’s Square. We know exactly where to sit, as the Pope has to pass by you when he enters! The Holy Father will give a special greeting and with the help of his Cardinals, he will perform blessings in many languages, sing hymns and give homilies.

VATICAN CITY STATE
The Vatican City (the smallest country in the world) is located in the very heart of Rome. It is the pulse of Catholic life. It attracts millions of pilgrims from all over the world, who come every year to gather in prayer and seek the blessing of the Pope. A beloved destination for all those visitors attracted by the magnificent artworks in the Vatican Museums, its foremost monument is St. Peter's Basilica, the largest church on the globe, the imposing dome of which stands regally over the rooftops of the Eternal City. The Basilica overlooks St. Peter's Square, designed by Bernini in the 17th Century, who realized the imposing lateral colonnades, consisting of 284 Doric-style columns that are topped by 140 10.17-feet-tall statues of saints and six large coats of arms of Alexander VII Chigi. Thanks to the genius of Bernini's architecture, the columns are arrayed perfectly one behind the other; positioned on their porphyry disks, as if by magic they seem to move. The piazza's longest diameter measures to 787 feet in length, while the central obelisk stands at a height of more than 82 feet. Taking the front stairway, renovated by Bernini and consisting of three levels, visitors enter the portico, with five gates arranged along its 233 meters. Each of them corresponds to one of the front portals of the Basilica. The portico and facade were both realized by Carlo Maderno. While entering the Basilica, the visitor is immediately struck by the artistic profusion of the interior and the spiritual evocations of thisis masterpiece. At the end of the central nave is the statue of St. Peter giving his blessing, with his foot worn by the public's caresses. In a chapel on the right nave is the famous Pietà by Michelangelo, a marble complex of sublime expression, completed by the artist at the age of 23. Symbol of the Catholic Church and of the city of Rome is the main dome, an impressive work designed by Michelangelo, and completed after his death by Domenico Fontana and Giacomo della Porta. The Vatican Grottoes, located under the Basilica's floor, guard the tomb of Saint Peter and those of other popes, including Pope John Paul II. Not very far from the Basilica, walking along the walls, visitors arrive at the entrance to the Vatican Museums, housing incomparable works of art. Among the various exhibition halls, the Museum of Egyptian Art displays numerous examples of sculptures, sarcophagi and mummies, Mesopotamian cuneiform tablets and seals. The Painting Gallery (Pinacoteca) contains works by Giotto, Caravaggio, Beato Angelico, Perugino, Leonardo, Titian and Raphael. In the Apostolic Palace, visitors are allowed to enter the Raffaello Rooms that are decorated with beautiful frescoes realizsed by the artist between 1508 and 1524. Nonetheless, the main attraction is the Sistine Chapel, a wonderful masterpiece brought about by the efforts of many artists, particularly Perugino, Botticelli, Rosselli and Ghirlandaio. Although the most famous contribution was undoubtedly that by Michelangelo - i.e. decoration of the ceiling and the realization of the Last Judgement behind the altar.

Who can say they were in the front row during a Papel pray session with Pope Leo and 10,000 of his closest friends? Thanks to Francesco and a few other guides he works with, we can now say we have been. Like another tour we took with Francesco, it required a 6AM departure from the hotel. This is over three hours before the prayer session but completely necessary to get a decent seat. When we arrived at the Vatican, what could have been a very confusing and frustrating experience wasn’t due to some experienced and professional guides. They guided us where to stand, and when those lines moved for no apparent reason, shifting 100’s of people, they made sure we didn’t lose our prime spot in line. Our guides gave us clear guidance on what to do when the multiple security screenings opened up. When we were able to go in, one of the tour team members quickly secured our seats and made sure we were aware of some of the typical (poor) behaviors we might encounter from other Papel visitors. I was surprised that we saw all the behaviors, and when they did happen, our guides very politely engaged with the person. While this may seem like a small thing, it actually made the experience so much less stressful for us and allowed us to enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime experience. Francesco also served as our photographer, giving us the opportunity to focus on the experience and not be stuck behind our camera. While you could do all of this without a guide, don’t. Having the experience of a seasoned professional made what could have been a chaotic experience extremely stress-free and enjoyable.

This was an unbelievable experience! Never would I have believed that I would be standing at the fence to wave at Pope Francis as he was slowly driven past us just a few feet away then sit in the 2nd row for the Mass. Our guide Stephania was wonderful! She took great care of us from the minute she picked us up at our hotel. She made sure we knew what was going on at all times- since everything was going on in Italian! I was also impressed by the colleagues working with her. Everyone seemed dedicated to making sure that we had a great experience. We loved it!

Where do I begin? Wow! Wow! Wow! Francesco and Giorgio were simply AMAZING! From the time they picked us up at our apartment, to the gift shop after Pope Leo’s first papal audience, they totally took care of us like family. I cannot explain the experience we had at the first papal address. They helped us get through security seamlessly, then led us to the best seats and kept an eye on our seats and our bags while we watched up close for Pope Leo to travel throughout the crowd. Francesco even captured the best pictures, so we could always remember this monumental day! Totally worth every penny! Just priceless! Thank you for helping our family create memories to last a lifetime!

We attended the Papal Audience it was indoor and packed. I applied for tickets a few months ago and collected them on the Tuesday evening. We arrived early and got through security with ease. We selected good seats right beside the aisle his holiness would walk down. The atmosphere was lively and exciting. The big moment and the crowd erupted with joy. Pope Francis has a beautiful smile and a genuine smile and we were honoured to meet him and receive his Blessing. The audience lasts about 2 hours and is so worth the time and effort

We traveled to Rome, specifically to attend the Papal Audience. Rossana could not have done anything more to make our experience better. She was phenomenal, not only in her communication prior to the tour, but also ensuring that we had the best experience possible. As my Aunt is not able to walk long distances, Rossana provided a wheelchair for her to use. Being the expert, she helped us find the best seats for the Papal Audience, which we all appreciated. After the Papal Audience, she walked us through St. Peter's square, taking us to various spots to purchase gifts for our family members. She then joined us for lunch, which was so lovely. I would highly recommend any tours led by Rossana and this company to anyone. This was the trip of a lifetime and Rossana helped to make it absolutely perfect.

This was the first time we visited Europe and we made sure to attend the general blessings extended to our families given by the Pope every Wednesday morning. Amongst the crowd were thousands of parishioners all over the world and getting near the Pope to get a glimpse of his arrival was almost impossible. Rosanna of Rome Italy Explora made our experience incredible and beyond words. We traveled from US and she communicated with us several days before our flight to Europe. She made sure everything was well arranged prior to our travel even if our hotel was an hour away from Rome. She seated us at the best spot where we can see the Pope and we did had great photos of him so near. What a great experienced to see the Pope at a very short distance as his Popemobile pass by! Rosanna's service with this visit was exceptional, above and beyond any traveler's expectations. My family is truly thankful and very grateful for meeting her and for the friendship we started. She extended her help for us even after our western mediterranean cruise. Our Rome experience was indeed spectacular and we can't wait to have her guidance when we come back to explore much more of Rome's/Italy's amazing places!

Quel magnifique cadeau pour les 18 ans de notre fille!!! Rosana, Bianca et Giuletta ont été des accompagnatrices en or pour ce moment unique qui marquera à jamais nos esprits. Du premier contact par messagerie à la fin de l'audience, tout fut orchestré royalement. La veille de l'audience, Bianca a veillé à ce que tout soit opérationnel pour le lendemain. Un chauffeur est venu nous chercher à notre résidence et durant le trajet jusqu'au Vatican, Giuletta notre accompagnatrice nous a conté l'histoire de Rome, des différents papes et nous a désignés les sites historiques importants sur le trajet. Such an amazing experience that exceeded all of my expectations! In the morning Rosario our amazing guide for the papal visit greeted us with a big smile at our hotel with a car waiting for me and my friend. Rosaria was extremely knowledgeable about the Vatican and the areas of Rome and gave us amazing tips on the way to the papal mass. When we arrived to Vatican City we were able to skip the line and had the best view of the pope. The whole experience was unforgettable and something I will cherish forever. The tour company was amazing in handling everything and our guide Rosaria made everything so much more pleasant and amazing! I would not miss this while visiting rome!

We had a perfect experience with this tour. Everything went according to the description. Our private guide Stephan picked up our family at our rented apartment and drove us to St. Peter's Square where met 2 other small groups and got in line waiting for security to open. This company knew exactly where to sit and accompanied us through the line and to the recommended seats. We were within a few feet of the Pope when he passed by slowly in his open car, and we had an unobstructed view. Waiting for the gates to open is somewhat chaotic, with people from all over the world speaking many languages and not knowing where to go or how the entry process works. There isn't good signage to direct attendees. This is where the company's experts were so valuable. They knew exactly what to do, where to go, and what was happening at all times. We never had a doubt. They stayed by our side through the event and escorted us afterward to the gift shop with VIP access to a special room with original mosaics and quality gold/silver pieces (you can just look; no pressure to buy). We also had an opportunity to use a small private restroom at that time which is sometimes hard to find in Rome. While this was an expensive event, it meant a lot to our family to see the Pope up close. I understand from other reviews that it's possible to get the tickets and close seats without hiring a guide. However, Stephan took all of the stress and worry away and ensured an excellent once in a lifetime experience, so it was well worth it.

This was amazing! Our two guides were incredible. They knew exactly where to sit in the audience so we would have front row viewing of the Pope! The crowds are huge for this event. With the two guides, one was able to run and get us seats up front so we didn’t have to fight the crowds. The Pope was so close and he even stopped right in front of us. The two guides were also knowledgeable about the history of the Vatican too. This was the highlight of our trip to Rome! I would recommend this to anyone who wants to see the Pope on their trip.

It all went really well. Rosaria picked us up at the hotel and we went to the Vatican. The entrance went really smoothly and with the blessing help from Rosaria, Rossana and their incredible team we were able to get front seat rows. Better was impossible. They all were really kind and gentle with my mother, who has 87 years old and always dreamed to attend the Papal Audience. Again, better was impossible! I truly recommend it!!

5 STARS ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️. We had the best experience!! Our guide, Giuliana, met us at our hotel and brought us to St. Peter’s Square. She waited in line with us, got us through security and into the 2nd row to enjoy our Papal Audience Tour. Her knowledge of Vatican City and Rome was immense, it was like having a history professor and google at our fingertips. She was such a pleasure to listen to and spend time with. Would do it again 100%.

This tour is amazing! This is a once in a lifetime experience. My mom had wanted to see the Pope in person for a long time and her wish came true. She even got to hold his hand!! Big thanks to Francesco and Camilla they did a great job at getting us the best seats. They were also great communicating with us before the day of the event.

Foi tudo otimo. Lorenzo nos acompanhou desde o hotel as 6:30 até o final da audiência Papal. Nos ajudou a localizar um ótimo lugar na praça, de modo que pudéssemos assistir toda audiência e também ver o Papa bem de pertinho, quando ele passou de carro.

My daughter held hands with the Pope as he passed by us. Our guides got us prime seating. We could not have had this experience on our own.

Francesco was incredible!! Could not have asked for a better experience! He was able to secure front row seats to see the Pope for 4 people and we were so grateful for him and Maria! You start the day getting picked up in a large Mercedes van, followed by driving straight to the Vatican. We only waited about 20 mins in line and Francesco ran ahead to secure front row seats. It was a magnificent day filled with many good memories and I can’t recommend this tour enough! The price is well worth it. We traveled all throughout Italy and we did about 7 different tours, but this tour was by far the highlight of the trip and Francesco was amazing! If you’re thinking about the price don’t. It’s a once in a lifetime experience and this tour, the employees, and the company are all incredible!

Francesco picked us up in a luxury sedan . We met up with Gloria , she was saving us a spot in line at the Vatican . Gloria also went ahead of us and secured front row seats to see the Pope!! Francesco took some great pictures of us and the Pope. Francesco and Gloria stayed with us the entire time. It was a once in a lifetime experience.!! They were absolutely incredible and gave us commentary while we waited for the Pope to arrive. I 100% recommend this tour , it was the highlight of our trip to Rome !!

I would recommend 100% this tour. It was a unique experience without all the hassle. The seats were well located. The company was so easy to work with, the communication was great and the service they provided was convenient. They do everything for you! I would definitely do it again with them. If you have little kids, bring something to entertain them while they wait but the rest was a magnificent experience. Great job they did with me and my family.

It was definitely on my list to attend mass if I was in Rome on a Wednesday. The tickets are free to attend this to the public however our guide did get us up to the 2nd row where we took great photos but I feel what we paid was too much. They did pick you up, attended mass and then we were on our own to get back to our hotel. Just overpriced for this compared to other Viator bookings we have used.

What an unforgettable experience! Francesco was great to work with, answering questions beforehand and arranging everything to keep it hassle free for us. The tour company provided private transport for our family and wheelchair assistance for our mother. When our group had to split up, Francesco maintained communications throughout and even sent pictures so we knew where the others were located. Wonderful customer service. Our seats were incredible! The pope went right in front of us. Highly recommend

It was me, my husband, and our two kids (ages 17 and 10). Our driver, Florian, arrived right on time with our guide, Gloria. Gloria was incredibly kind, organized, and knew exactly how to navigate everything. She spoke several languages and helped bridge conversations between groups, including a lovely church group from Chile who only spoke Spanish. It really added to the feeling of a shared experience across cultures- smiles, high-fives, and friendly connections all around and truly a learning experience on multiple fronts for our kids. When security said we had to leave a large corksicle water bottle behind that we’ve been relying on, Gloria knew exactly where to leave it, and promised us it would be fine and we could come back for it with no issue. And sure enough—it was there when we came back. We had seats right up front, and great sorts for video and pictures. Gloria and Florian also helped us with luggage and pickup logistics, which we really appreciated. We loved this experience for so many reasons—great people, seamless planning, and a true sense of connection. And of course, the amazing opportunity to see the Pope up close! Tips: • Bring small water bottles and bags (it gets hot and crowded). • Pack light and dress for the weather. • Bring snacks or breakfast—it’s an early start. • Don’t forget a backup phone battery. • Most importantly, bring a good attitude and enjoy the ride!

What an amazing experience! Francesco went above & beyond to make sure we got the best seats. He took our photos & videos with Pope Leo. He explained the entire process, arrived at our hotel early, and stayed with us the entire morning. Truly an event of a lifetime. We highly recommend this tour with Francesco!

Francesco was our guide for this tour and he was amazing. Arrived at our hotel right on time with his driver and guided us through all the steps for the Wednesday Papal address at St Peter's Square. He knew all the right things to do and placed us in seats a few feet from where he knew the Pope would drive by before the ceremony began. He even took all the videos and photos with us in them so we could enjoy the moment to the fullest. For our first time for this event in Rome it was just what we needed. Thanks Francesco for a memorable part of our trip to Rome.

This tour was truly exceptional. Ricardo L our tour guide, Carolina and María and their entire team were beyond amazing. Ricardo and Carolina picked my husband and i at 6:30 am ensuring wed get a good spot to see the Pope! They provided front row seats for us where we saw the Pope within 5 feet of us. It was truly very emotional and up lifting and a once in a lifetime experience. They made it beyond teqarding and exceptionally efficient. Ricardo is incredibly knowledgeable and made us feel like family. He explained everything that was happening with great detail. Maria even provided umbrella to shield us from the sun and got water for my husband. Carolina, their driver and team were exceptional. Worth the money, time and feelings like they were friends of St Peter’s and had special keys to the papal audience in the grounds of the basilica! The tour of the Vatican and Sistine chapel w Alessandra was unbeatable- a lot of walking- but we learned a lot- we wouldn’t have had without them.

Francesco picked me up in a limo at 6 am. When we arrived at the Vatican, a line had already started to form. I was concerned that I wouldn’t get a front row seat. Around 7:15 am, they released the crowd to start going through the security checkpoints. This is when Francesco’s experience really paid off. After navigating us through the quickest security line, Francesco headed to the front row where we got the two remaining seats. He also provided me with an umbrella so I wouldn’t get wet during the rain. Miraculously, it didn’t rain when Pope Leo XIV passed by us twice. Francesco took many wonderful pictures that he shared with me. Although, it was expensive, it was worth the money because I wouldn’t have been able to secure great seats on my own.

This experience isn’t for the faint - but it was incredible. Francesco was so great and we felt like he was an expert. It was a very early morning with a lot of waiting in line, but so worth it to be within a few feet of Pope Leo - and I mean feet! We had a couple in our group that were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary and Francesco got a great video and photos of Pope Leo recognizing them for their accomplishment. How blessed is that? We cannot say enough about this experience and about Francesco.

I’m not too sure who to thank here. I would like to thank Viator for even offering this once in a life time experience, but the true queen was Francisca. She made us power through the long queues and we had front row seats to the experience. My parents are Roman Catholics and I think they will forever be grateful to Gloria and Francisca for this beautiful and life changing experience. It is costly, but worth every penny!

We can't thank Camilla and her entire team at Rome Italy Explora enough for our once-in-a-lifetime trip to Italy! From the time I did research until after our tour was complete, the company went above and beyond to make sure every need/question was answered. The morning of, we met our tour guide Maria in the lobby of our hotel. To our surprise, Camilla had remembered by in-laws were Spanish speakers and made sure our tour guide spoke Spanish! :) Maria was truly an expert. She knew the right places to sit, and was so sweet taking videos and pictures of us. From the moment we met Maria we knew we were in great hands! My mother-in-law can't stop talking about how memorable this papal audience experience was for her. If it weren't for Maria, we would have been totally lost on where to line up/where to sit. Thank you Rome Italy Explora for making the papal audience something we will be talking about for years to come. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to ensure close seats to the Pope!

Simona was absolutely amazing! She took great care of us and explained how everything worked. The seats were perfect. The pope passed right in front of us and stopped to let everyone take pictures. After it was over she made sure we had transportation to our next destination. I would highly recommend her.

This tour was the absolute best! Camilla reached out to me via email as soon as I booked the tour. She then reached out closer to the tour day. Our guide was Francesco he was amazing. He took care of us from start to finish. He made sure we knew what was going on at all times. Our seats during the papal blessing couldn’t have been better. The Pope came by us twice! That’s right I said twice! We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. Francesco gave us memories that will last a lifetime! After the papal blessing he took us to a gift shop where all the items are blessed by the pope! He has a great personality and fully knows the history of Rome! There is nothing he could have done better!

Our tour guide, Andrea, was on time and met every need, answering every question, and was good to our family and those around us. In a crowd of 20,000 he made it easy and tour seamless. It was everything we expected and more. We would recommend others do tours with him and we would come back as well to see the leader of the Catholic Church or any other location or event.

Francesco was my tour guide. He was very professional yet friendly. I enjoyed the tour more because of his sharing of the historical significance and painting a vivid picture of the context providing a deeper significance to the program. He was able to answer all my questions…… This is a milestone experience in my life and it was very rewarding because of Francesco. He went out of his way after the tour to ensure I reached my place of stay safely.

La mejor experiencia para nuestra familia que somos católicos Nuestra guía Adala, súper sabia, nos dio la mejor experiencia familiar del mundo. Muy puntuales desde el momento que nos recogieron de nuestro hotel. Desde ahí nos empezó a dar información del Vaticano y las iglesias y basílicas más importantes de Roma. Nos guió a la primera fila, gustó donde iba a salir el papá móvil, estuvo antes para tomarnos fotos y videos.

Although this is a free event I wanted help with getting the tickets and seats as we are in older age now . The tour guide picked us up at 6 am on a lovely car with driver . We were taken to the line to wait for security to open . It was a long 1.5 hour wait in the cold . Our guide already had the tickets and explained to us what will be happening next. As the gate was open ever pushed forward to the security scanner . You had to behave like a Roman not British and push them away . Our guide ran ahead to get us the best seats . We were near the front to the left right next to the aisle the ope would walk to greet the people after the service . This we would not had known without the guide. Our guide stayed sat with us the shone time explained where the toilets were and explained what was being said during the service . Once the service was over the ope started walking everyone pushed to the side to get close to our barrier . Our guide held on to my seat as I could stand next to the barrier and the guide stood on my chair to get great photos for us . I managed to hold on to the popes hand and he gently cupped my hand I felt a feeling over overwhelmed love . Tears rolled down my face as I turned to face my husband he also was crying as the pope had blessed his Saint Christopher pendant . Our guide showed us the way out away from the crowds to the gift shop. He then airdropped me all the photos. This was a lot of money for a short trip but well worth it. It was once in a life time being held by the pope. You will have to make your own way back although the guide put us in a taxi . Dress warm take snacks as it is a long morning.

Driver and Francesco picked us up a planned. Francesco went over what to expect going through 2 security checks. We were able to get 2nd row seats, but when Pope Leo arrived were able to squeeze up to front row. It was amazing and once in a life time event. Francesco was amazing. Would definitely recommend!!!
